About Dr. Scott

I weigh myself and I run.  And, I can run a minute.

On April 19th, 2014 I was able to run a minute non-stop and I was excited about the prospects of completing my third marathon ever so I created this blog.  In it I track my weight and my runs.  Under my Running Log tab there is a table where I track the number of miles I run each month, my monthly average weight and all the running races i can account for dating back to 1994 through ones I’m already signed up to run in 2016.

My original vision was to blog about an amazing transformation from a 320 lb out of shape guy to a lean, svelte, epitome of fitness type person which would culminate in completing my third full marathon on Oct 31st, 2014 in record time!  That didn’t happen mainly because i was starting in the worse shape of my life but, my vision wasn’t entirely without merit.  I completed my first marathon with only 3 months of training and did my 2nd without training at all.  So, I thought a year of good training could easily undo 20 years of …not training.

The reality is that I have been and am improving but not to the degree initially envisioned.  At the very least I blog my weekly weigh-ins and this has given me enough awareness about my weight so that it doesn’t get out of hand anymore.  .  Running is the other component of this blog.

Below are all my weigh-ins from 2014.  The first three rows were weigh-ins taken at a doctors office for a contest I was in and won with a final weight of 244.2.  One week later I weighed 260 and with the help of this blog and running I was able to maintain a weight pretty close to that 260 all the way through November.  I thought I would be entering the same contest again so I let my weight go back up at the end of 2014 which, in hindsight was stupid of me.  I got back in the 260s by March 2015 and have been steadily dropping weight ever since.

Below are my weekly weigh-ins for the first six months of 2015.  My wallpaper became a little more fun as I added pictures from a few of the races I did in the first half of 2015.

If I weigh 212 lbs by July 5th of next year then I’ll win $2096.00 from Healthy Wage dot com.  That’s long term.  For this year I’ve been using a website called DietBet.com where I can make wagers for losing 4% of my bodyweight in a month or for losing 10% in 6 months.  As of 7/9/2015 I have won 26 straight diet bets.
